Diploma in Aviation Management

The 10th intake of the Diploma in Aviation Management programme has commenced on 20th October 2022. The applications for the next batch will be entertained from June 2023. For more information please click here.




Recruit Course for ATSEP commenced

The recruit course for a batch of Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel (ATSEP) that was recruited to AASL commenced on Monday the 6th June 2022 at the Electronics Engineering Training Wing of the Sri Lanka Airport & Aviation Academy.
This course is based on the ICAO Manual for ATSEP CBT (DOC.10057) and is of 12 weeks duration. It is the initial training in the career of an ATSEP and coveres a broad area on communication, air navigation, and surveillance.
Upon completion, the trained personnel will be deployed at stations of the Electronics & Air Navigation Enginering Division of AASL for OJT.




Aviation for Youngsters - Holiday Programme

Sri Lanka Airport & Aviation Academy completed yet another instance of the Aviation for Youngsters - Holiday Programme which was conducted between 28th Febraury and 04th March 2022. This programme was designed to give an opportunity for the young aviation enthusiast between the ages 7 through 12 to learn about the world's most fascinating industry while on vacation. They were gained an insight into aviation, starting from aircrafts to airports and air navigation. The programme was conducted entirely over Zoom virtual meetings. Diploma Awards 2020

The 8th batch of students who successfully completed the Diploma in Aviation Studies conducted by the Sri Lanka Airport & Aviation Academy were awarded their diplomas at a ceremony held at the academy auditorium at Ratmalana, on 10th January 2022. For more information please click here.




Approach/Area Surveillance Control Course completed at SLAAA

Sri Lanka Airport & Aviation Academy successfully completed the Approach/Area Surveillance Control Course (ICAO 054) for a batch of 6 Air Traffic Controllers in December 2021. This 60 days course had been done by the Air Traffic Survices training wing after a long delay and the first approach surveillance control course that is conducted using the SLAAA's newly acquired RADAR simulator.


CATC Rebranded as Sri Lanka Airport & Aviation Academy

CATC Sri Lanka was rebranded as the “Sri Lanka Airport & Aviation Academy” at a ceremony held on 03rd August 2021 at the institution premises at Ratmalana. The chief guest was Hon. State Minister for Aviation and Exports Zones Development Hon. D V Chanaka. The Director-General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Themiya Abeywickrama was also present. Aerodrome Control Course completed at CATC

CATC Sri Lanka completed the Aerodrome Control (ICAO 052) training programme for a batch of 28 newly recruited trainee air traffic controllers in April this year. This is the first aerodrome control course that is conducted using the CATC's newly acquired 3D tower simulator. For more information please click here.

CATC's eLearning takes wings

The TRAINAIR PLUS STP 'Terrestrial Radio Link Installation Planning' which is the latest contribution of CATC Sri Lanka to the TRAINAIR PLUS pool was successfully conducted last August. This is a fully online course which is first of the kind in TRAINAIR PLUS courses. The course was developed by the Instructional Design Unit of the CATC.
