Aerodrome Control Course commences at CATC
 





 

CATC Sri Lanka commenced the Aerodrome Control (ICAO 052) training programme for a batch of 28 newly recruited trainee air traffic controllers last year and completed the same in April this year. This is the first aerodrome control course that is conducted using the CATC's newly acquired 3D tower simulator.

The course consisted of an initial cognitive phase of 45 working days and thereafter the batch was take turns to receive training on the tower simulator. Several senior practicing air traffic controllers from ATC operations had been attached as instructors to the CATC to assist the Chief Instructor in Air Traffic Services.

All trainees having successful completed the training at CATC, had been deployed at ATC towers at airports operated by AASL for on the job training. Thereafter they will be rated and licensed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka.

CATC is the only training organization in Sri Lanka that is approved by the Civil Aviation Authority to conduct ATC training. It is also a full member of the ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS programme.
