Ms. Farhana Nalar, Associate Director, Global Engagement (Recruitment), Office of Global Engagement
of Massey University, New Zealand visited Sri Lanka Airport & Aviatoin Academy on 04th
November 2022, as part of her trip to India and Sri Lanka on behalf of Massey University.
Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited signed an agreement of collaboration last year,
with Massey University of New Zealand, offering lateral entry to Bachelors of Aviation Management degree
for students who successfully complete the Diploma in Aviation Management programme conducted by the Sri
Lanka Airport & Aviation Academy.
This collaborative arrangement enables the students to join the second year of the Massey's Bachelor of Aviation
Management degree program directly upon completion of the Diploma at SLAAA. In effect, the diploma program
of the SLAAA is treated as being equivalent to the first two semesters of the degree programme. This is a
significant achievement for AASL.
Massey university New Zealand occupies high ranks in world university rankings and their aviation management
bachelors degree is one of the most recognized degrees of its kind in the world. The ability for Sri Lankan
students to follow the first year of the degree in Sri Lanka affords a substantial saving by way of tuition fees,
accommodation, and travel expenses for the student.
Ms. Farhana's visit included a briefing session on current situation of the programmes and a meeting with the
current Diploma students who are following the programme at SLAAA. She also visited the 3D ATC tower and
RADAR simulator of the academy.
